dilatated stomach and proximal duodenum i

  • duodenal atresia
  • midgut volvulus
  • Most likely atresia as with acute obstruction the duodenal bulb should not be dilated as it would be in acute midgut volvulus*

  • focal dilatation of bowel–usually RLQ
  • Unchanging bowel gas pattern on serial imaging
  • Unfolded small bowel loops with loops separation suggestive of bowel wall thickening
  • pneumatosis intestinalis
  • portal venous gas
