Q

what kind of lobule is this?

A

a classic or anatomical liver lobule, with the arrows showing blood moving towards the center from portal triad to the central vein

Q

what kind of lobule is this?

A

a portal lobule, defining the movement of bile from central vein to portal triad

Q

what kind of lobule is this?

A

this is called a portal acinus, the areas are different zones of oxygen concentration. Zone 1 contains the cells on the periphery of the classical nodule and are receiving the most oxygen from the arterial blood supply, 2 is in the middle, and 3 has the lowest blood oxygen concentration.

Q

how do you tell between the bile duct and a hepatic artery on a slide?

A

the endothelial cells lining the hepatic artery will be sort of lumpy and not flat. this is an artifact but tells you these would normally be stretched out and muscular

Q

what do hepatic stellate cells do? where are they located?

Q

what kind of cell is this and how do you know?

Q

the pancreas has endocrine and exocrine functions/secretions. Name some for both

A

exocrine: mostly zymogens like trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, pancreatic lipase, and pancreatic amylase
endocrine: insulin, glucagon, somatostatin

17
Q

pancreatic acinar cells are involved in the ____ functions of the pancreas

A

exocrine, making zymogens

18
Q

label the pancreas diagram

A

from top going count clockwise:

tissue septum

ducts

exocrine cells in pancreatic acini

endocrine cells in pancreatic islet

19
Q

explain the two types of cells seen here

A

to the left are the acini of the pancreas involed in producing zymogens

to the right is an islet containing endocrine cells
