Bartonella Henselae

A

-Gram - but need Warthin Starry Silver stain
-Transmitted via cat scratches

-Cat scratch fever: large axial lymph nodes (self limiting, no tx but can use Azithromycin)
-Bacilliary Angiomatosis: immunocompromised pts, raised red lesions (TX: DOXY)

Can use Macrolides for both

A

-Gram - / INTRA FAC
-Via farm animals or dairy products

SX: Fever (up down), chills, anorexia, osteomyelitis, large organs

TX: Tetracycline (DOXY) AND RIF

Francisella tularemia

A

-Gram - / FAC INTRA / Coccobacilli
-Via rabbits, tick vector (derma) = CDC

-Ucer at infection site, granulomas w. necrosis

TX: Aminoglycosides

Pasteurella multocida

A

-Cats/Dogs, rash cellulitis = osteomyelitis
-CAT POS, OX POS, CAP
-5% sheep blood agar, PIN stain

TX: Penicillin (amox/CA)
