How does Donovanosis present? And what is the cause?

A

Cause = Klebsiella granulomatis

Nodular lesions that break down into beefy red, painless ulcers with sharp margins and no regional lymphadenopathy.

How does chancroids present? What is the cause?

A

Cause: Haemophilus ducreyi.

Papules, vesicles, and pustules that develop into genital lesions over 24-72 hours. Not indurated, have irregular borders. Painful and tender. 50% have enlarged and tender lymph nodes.

How does herpes present?

A

Herpes Simplex Virus

Very painful vesicular lesions. Lesions rupture, and result in sharp, punched out borders, and regional lymphadenopathy.

Presentation of candidiasis? Tx for vaginal candidiasis?

A

Pruritis and irritation with white, thick discharge.

Several types of vaginally applied imidazoles for 3-7 days. Or nystatin tablets vaginally intravaginally. PREFERRED: Or fluconazole orally in a single dose of 150mg except in pregnant women during the first trimester.

What is the most sensitive test to detect early bone metastasis?

A

Radionuclide bone scan. Next step if test is positive is X-ray film to rule out other radiologically obvious bony problems.
