13
Q

What is included in preparation for stretching?

A

Review goals and outcomes.
Select proper stretches and modes.
Explain procedure & obtain consent.
Warm up the tissue.
place client in stable / comfortable position.
Remove restrictive clothing, bandages or splints.
Assure client of tolerance level, make sure they are relaxed.

Q

What are general Precautions during stretching?

A
Do not force the joint past its ROM.
Use caution with Osteoporosis.
protect newly united fractures.
apply techniques progressively.
Avoid over-stretching Weak mm tissue.

15
Q

What is included in the Post Stretching?

A

Apply cold to minimize soreness ( make sure to cool mm in the lengthened position ).
Have client perform AF ROM to determine new ranges gained.
develop a balance of strength in the opposition of the stretch to help maintain target mm mobility and decrees imbalance.

16
Q

How could a client maintain ROM in-between treatments?

A

They could use home stretches.

17
Q

What is the “Overload Principle”?

A

This is when you use progressive overload to challenge the mm being worked on.
In strength training you increase the weight in increments.
In Endurance training you would increase the amount of time the muscles get used.

18
Q

What is Power within mm tissue?

A

This is related to speed and strength of movement = Work (Force X Distance) produced by a mm per unit of time.

19
Q

What is Strength within mm tissue?

A

The ability of contractile tissue to create tension and a resultant force based on the demands of the mm tissue.

20
Q

What is Endurance within mm tissue?

A

The ability to perform low intensity, repetitive or sustained activities over a prolonged period of time.

21
Q

What is the “Said Principle”?

A

Specific, Adaptation,-to-Imposed, Demands.
The ability off a mm to adapt to specific tasks is a necessity in allowing the body segment to change/ Function properly based on the demands.

22
Q

What is the “Reversibility Principle”?

A

Within a week or two of not excessing the mms will begin to (De-train).
It is for this reason it is important to continue consistent work with the mm.

23
Q

What are the Important points with training a muscle?

A

This includes:
Alignment, Stabilization, Intensity, Volume, Exercise order, Frequency, Duration, Rest interval/Recovery periods, Mode of Exercise, Energy system, Velocity of exercise, Variation.

24
Q

What are the general precautions taken for Strengthening?

A

Pain should not occur during session.
Warm up before going to heavy.
Avoid heavy load with (Children, Seniors/Osteoporosis).
Do not use resistance across a unstable joint.
Avoid holding breath.
Avoid Exsplosive movements.
Avoid secondary stress on the back.
Be aware of medications.
Discontinue if the CT gets dizzy, Pain or shortness of breath.

25
Q

What will happen if there is to much weight added to a lift/ workout?

A

The body will compromise and other muscles will be worked instead of the isolated mm.

26
Q

What will happen if there is to much weight added to a lift/ workout?

A

The body will compromise and other muscles will be worked instead of the isolated mm.
