Heart parts Flashcards
RIght Atrium
top right side of the heart, pumps blood to the right ventricle, blood high in CO2
Left Atrium
top left side of the heart, has blood high in O2, pumps blood into the left ventricle
Right Ventricle
bottom right side of the heart, blood high in CO2, pumps blood to the lungs
Left Ventricle
bottom left side of the heart, has blood high in O2, pumps blood to the body
SA Node
group of cells in the right atrium that tells the top of the heart to contract
AV Node
group of cells that tells the ventricles to contract
Tricuspid Valve
valve between the right atrium and the right ventricle
Bicuspid Valve
valve between the left atrium and left ventricle
Aortic Valve
valve between the left ventricle and the aorta
Pulmonary Valve
between right ventricle and pulmonary arteries
Pulmonary Veins
take blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart
Pulmonary Arteries
take blood from the right ventricle to the lungs
Lungs
blood gives up CO2 and takes in O2
Body Capillaries
blood gives up O2 to the cells of the body and takes in CO2
Septum
the division between the left and right sides of the heart prevents the mixing of CO2 and O2 blood
