To overthrow Henry VII from the throne- Lovell had close ties to Richard III who had been defeated by Henry at battle.

Their was a lack of support: they received no support from oversees, and any support they did receive collapsed when people found out the King was on his way with an army.

He responded by going to York and sending his uncle Jasper Tudor into the countryside with a pardon for every rebel except Lovell: it helped to drain Lovell#s support
