i.e. the lower the BMI, the higher the weight gain goals during pregnancy

Complications associated with high BMI

A

 Hypertension
 Preeclampsia
 Gestational diabetes
 Thrombophlebitis
 Thromboembolism
Infertility
 Miscarriage
 Stillbirth
 Labour abnormalities - SD, 3rd and 4th degree tears, FTP, PPH, VBAC failure, IOL and failed IOL
 Macrosomia (weight for gestation above 90th percentile)
 Post-term delivery
 ↑ Caesarean delivery
 Early neonatal death
 ↑ Spina bifida
