Hormones Target Specific Cells And Tissues Flashcards
Where do cells produce hormones in plants?
Roots, stem tip, buds.
Explain: plants don’t send electrical impulses to stimulate their cells to move?
Bcs plants form electrochemical gradients in the form of a difference in the concentration of some ions, these gradients move through a number of membranes.
What are the factors affected the plant responses?
•hormone’s location
•hormone’s concentration
•hormone interaction with other hormone
What do we call the area affected by hormones?
Hormone target cells.
Mention the condition that allow the target cells to respond to a hormone?
For target cells to respond to a hormone, they must be detected by a receptor. If a receptor is not detected or if the receptor is blocked, there is no responses by the plant.
Explain: only target cells are influenced by hormones not any other cells?
Because of the presence of hormones receptors on the surface of the plasma membrane of the cell.
Define synergist hormone.
Two hormones interact andprompt a greater response than they would alone.
Define antagonist hormones.
Two hormones with opposite effects interact to balance each other and the net effect determines a response.
