  • Ebert called the Freikorps to crushed the uprising. On 16 Jan 1919, the uprising was violently crushed.
  • Luxemburg and Liebknecht were killed.

Timeline of the Kapp Putsch

A
  • Kapp Putsch was triggered when allies told berlin to disband the Freikorps.
  • 5000 amred men marched on Berlin, leading to the government fled to Southern Germany.
  • They put Nationalist Kapp as a figurehead leader and invited the Kaiser to come back from exile.
  • Army did not stop the Freikorps , but did not join.
  • Government called on people not to support the putsch and asked workers to call a general strike.
  • With key services stopped, Kapp could not govern and fled abroad , the Putsch collapsed
