16
Q

Why are the bronchioles needed?

A

To increase the surface area from the bronchi for gas exchange.

17
Q

What is at the tip of the bronchioles?

A

Alveoli.

18
Q

What are the alveoli for?

A

To increase the surface area for gas exchange and allow efficient gas exchange.

19
Q

Why is the alveoli in the shape of a bunch of grapes?

A

To further the surface area for gas exchange even more.

20
Q

What is gas exchange?

A

The exchange of oxygen to carbon dioxide in the alveoli.

21
Q

What are the two types of respiration?

A

Aerobic and anaerobic.

22
Q

What is the equation for aerobic respiration?

A

Glucose + oxygen -> carbon dioxide + water.

23
Q

Why does your heart rate increase during exercise?

A

Because when you exercise you need more oxygen (red blood cells) to be pumped to your lungs, which is done by your heart so it needs to speed up in order to keep up with your increased movement.
