Elkhart (yellow tip)
All other nozzles
Smooth bore
Smooth bore master stream
Tft 1 1/2”, 1 3/4”, 2”- 75psi
Elkhart- 100 psi
All others- 100psi
Smooth bore-50psi
Smooth bore master stream 80 psi
3 types of fog nozzles

Automatics
Tip volume for solid stream nozzle
1 inch:
1 inch and 1/8:
1 in 1/4 inch:
1 inch: 200gpm
1 inch and 1/8: 250gpm
1 in 1/4 inch:300gpm
Friction loss formula value for HS:
1" 1.5" 1.75" 2" 2.5"
1"-8 1.5"-4 1.75"-3 2"-2 2.5"-1
Friction loss formula value for L:
Hose length in feet divided by 100
What is head pressure?
Pressure produced as water moves downhill
What is back pressure?
Pressure pushing back against the pump while trying to move water uphill
Elevation
Adding .5 PSI per foot to engine pressure for uphill
Subtracting .5 PSI per foot for downhill
Handline appliances added to EP formula if the
Flows are 350 GPM or greater
Gated wye =10 psi
Standpipes=20psi
Elevation structures
And 5 PSI per floor in multi-story structures do not count the first floor.
When is there need for a second line?
If you are exceeding 150 psi then you are losing volume. This is your signal that there is a need for a second line
Citizen complaints
What are the four findings?
Unfounded
Exonerated
Not sustained
Sustained
Unfounded
The alleged act did not occur
Exonerated
The ACT occurred but was justified, lawful proper
Not sustained
The investigation produced information insufficient to prove or disapprove the allegation.
