Musicking
to take part in any capacity in a
musical performance
Meaning: in the relationships that are
established between the participants by the
performance
Relationships of a musical performance:
- Physical Setting
- Those taking part (performers, listeners, anyone
else) - Those between the sounds
Not abstract, but rooted in experience
Active or Passive
Importance of performance
Q: What does it mean to “perform?”
Not musical objects or things, but in practice
Musicking:
