Advantages of use of ICTs
Communication- money can be saved, much quicker to move information around
Globalization- Video conferencing saves money on flights and accommodation. Brought countries and people closer together
Cost effectiveness- cheaper than phone calls
Greater Availability- ICT has made it possible for business to be automated giving clients access to a website or voicemail 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Education- Computers along with their programs and the internet have created educational opportunities not available to previous generations
Disadvantages of use of ICTs
Privacy- from signal interceptions to email hacking, people are now worried about their once private information becoming public knowledge
Education- lack of ICT equipment
Reliance on Technology- People have more to remember these days, and they are relying on technology for their memory but less use of your memory, the poorer it becomes
Computer viruses- worms, trojans, malware, spam, phishing - any other all can cause chaos and disrupt our daily lives
Expensive - cannot afford

How does an ICT system work
You (or the system) collect data, which is then stored, communicated or processed immediately
Data can be sent for processing as it is collected, or as it is retrieved from storage or communication
The information created by processing is displayed, sent to storage, or communicated further
Advantages of a POS system
Modern POS systems use barcode scanning so that bills can be added up taste and more easily
Scanning is also more accurate and prevents errors that typically occur when prices are typed in manually
