A

The promise God made to Abraham saying he’ll get land and kids as long as he believes in Him. This is important to the Bible because it establishes a unique relationship among humans and God that we haven’t seen since Adam and Eve before the Original Sin. Gods relationship with Jews

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. All believe to be from Abraham, whether it comes from Isaac or Ishmael. The part where they all disagree is which revelation of God truly is the real one to follow.

Q

Anthropomorphism

A

Placing human characteristics on nonhuman things. When reading the Bible, the authors write about God giving him human characteristics. He seems to feel like us, he walks through the garden of Eden in Genesis 2, and he breathes life into earth in Genesis 1. God however is not human, He is God, yet we place these characteristics on him because we want to relate

Q

Binding of Isaac

A

The story of Abraham trying to sacrifice Isaac to God. Important because of the way you can interpret it how it means. Some question if God was the voice that Abraham heard since it seemed like an odd question to ask. Others say that this represents Jesus’ sacrifice in the New Testament. Muslims view this story saying it really was Ishmael who was being sacrificed, not Isaac.

Q

“Bush, Read your Bible, God gave Israel to the Jews”

A

Zionism beliefs that Israel belongs to the Jews throughout history because of the Abrahamic Covenant. It goes against what Muslims believe saying that Palestine belongs to be there and the Zionism in 1948 is racist since it assumed it belonged to the Jews when people were already living there.

Q

Catholic/Protestant

A

Protestantism comes from Catholicism because of disageeements regarding scripture and the selling of indulgences in the 1500s. Martin Luther believed that the Catholic Church was unjust for doing this and wanted to make a church that focused on the Bible rather than jt he Eucharist.

Q

Christian Zionism

A

The idea that Christians support Israel and the Jewish people. They do this because they feel closer to the Jewish people since they share a Bible. Plus Christians and Muslims have feuded throughout history, so it would make sense for them not to side with them over this issue. It could also be said that Christians do this as a way to be sorry over how they’ve been treated through history as well

Q

Dome of the Rock

A

Sacred Temple for the Abrahamic Faiths in Jerusalem. Muslims view this as the place where God spoke to Muhammad. Christians and Jews won’t walk near the grounds there because they either believe the old temple used to stand there or because it’s too sacred for them to walk on there.
