Medical transducers are used to convert physiological variables into electrical signals.
What are deflection type transducers?
Deflection type transducers are attached to a thin, flexible diaphragm made of materials like stainless steel or phosphor bronze. Mechanical deflection due to force or pressure changes an electrical parameter such as resistance, capacitance, or inductance.
What is the formula for resistance in Resistance Transducers?
R = Resistivity × length / area
What is the formula for capacitance in Capacitance Transducers?
C = Permittivity × area / plate separation

Ultrasound can be generated and detected by piezoelectric transducers. A piezoelectric crystal vibrates at its resonant frequency when a voltage pulse is applied and produces a voltage when subjected to mechanical stress.
