Inside Cells Flashcards
Chloroplast
A organelle in the cells of plants that captured energy from sunlight and changes it to a form of energy cells can use in making food.
Vacuole
A sack like organelle that stores, water, food, and other materials need by the cell.
Golgi apparatus
Receives proteins and other newly for,Ed materials from the ER, packages them and distributes them to other parts of the cell to the outside of the cell.
Endoplasmic reticulum
An organelle that forms a maze of passage ways in which proteins and other materials are carried from one part of the cell to another.
Mitochondria
Rod-shaped organelles that convert energy into food molecules to energy the cell can to carry out its functions.
Cytoplasm
A thick, clear. Gel-like fluid that fills the region between the cell membrane and the nucleus. It moves constantlyand supports the organelles.
Ribosomes
Small grain shaped organelles that produce proteins.
Nucleolus
A small round structure in the nucleus that produces ribosomes.
Nuclear evelope
A membrane that surrounds the nucleus and controls which naturals pass into and out of the nucleus.
Organelle
A tiny cell structure that carries out a specific function within the cell.
Nucleus
In the cells a large oval organelle that contains the cells genetic material in the form of DNA that controls many of the cells activities.
Cell membrane
A thin flexible barrier that surrounds a cells and co tolls which substances pass into and out of a cell.
Cell wall
A rigid layer that surrounds cells of plants and some other organisms to protect and support the cell.
Lysosomes
Sack like organelles found only in animals cells that contain substances that break down old cell parts and release the substances so they can be used again by the cell.
