Interviewer has a list of topics or questions but they are flexible so the p can give more deeper and detailed discussion

A
Can gather rich detailed info, ps can relax and give better responses as conversations flow, can be used as pilot studies.

Weaknesses of interviews
A
Lots of time and expensive to train interviewers for unstructured interviews. Social desirability bias, Can be time consuming and hard to interpret the qualitative data.
