Introduction Flashcards
1
Q
Q what is a DNA?
A
Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule composed of two polynucleotide chains that coil around each other to form a double helix carrying genetic instructions for the development.
2
Q
Q What is a gene?
A
genes vary in size from a few hundred DNA bases to more than 2 million bases
- Its a sequence of Nucleotides in DNA or RNA that encodes the synthesis of a gene product, either RNA or protein.
3

its made of
- Phosphate
- Sugar
- Nitrogen base

Q
Q. whats Mutation? Context: Cancer tumour.
A
- Mutation is the alteration of the nucleotide sequence of the genome of an organism.
- cancer tumor can have thousands of genetic mutations, Sim is to distinguish the mutations which contribute to tumor growth from neutral mutations.
[ how are they interpreted? right now manually, its time consuming. but still how? ]
