What was his version of the Irenaean Theodicy?

A

He says that God created the epistemic gap to allow us to come to our own rational conclusions. He argued that without pain, virtues which enable us to become better would be impossible. His view is that, in a world with God’s hand continually intervening, there would be no genuinely self-chosen activity. None of us would grow into the likeness of God, as we would lack his creative freedom
