Movement of a limb or other part towards the midline of the body
Adduction
When the latter is is abducted beyond the vertical
Hyperabduction
Excessive adduction
Hyperadduction
A reduction in joint angle
Flexion
The return movement of Flexion
Extension
When the arm is flexed beyond the vertical
Hyper flexion
The continuation of extension beyond the starting position or beyond the straight line
Hyper extension
Rotation of the forearm and hand so that the palm faces forward or upwards
Supination
Rotation of the head or forearm so that the palm faces backwards or downwards
Pronation
Refers to the movement in a superior direction
Elevation
Refers to movement in an inferior direction
Depression
The movement that tilts the sole of the foot towards the midline of the body
Inversion
The movement that tilts the sole of the foot away from the midline of the body
Eversion
Movement of a limb or other part away from the midline of the body
Abduction
Flexion which increases the angle between the sole of the foot and back of the leg
Dorsiflexion
