The Polynesian panthers were a group founded by 6 people. This group included Samoans, Tongans, Cook islanders, and a few Māori. Many members were university students. The group was formed to end the discrimination that was faced by the Polynesian people in the wake of the economic crisis.

A

between 1973 and 1984, New Zealand governments were overwhelmed by economic crises. Including the oil crisis, high inflation, and increasing unemployment. But already many Polynesian people were working, and there was less money to go around. Many people lost their jobs. But Polynesian people still had jobs. As a result, New Zealanders felt threatened when the migrants still had their jobs.
