. Power of memory, he remembers a time when he used to wait on the shore for his father to return from fishing and it was horrible because he dint know if he was coming back, fears his own children may be thinking the same thing

. Power in indoctrination of culture on an individual. He is shunned by his own family and society because they belive she should’ve completed his duty and died for his country. His wife ignores him forever and is not pleased to have him back and she is dishonored by him

A

Children arnt fully indoctrinated so they fall silent slower than adults but they are becoming indoctrinated, they don’t understand he had done something wrong, culture of silence continues

Death of plane crash would’ve been an honorable way to die, but because he didn’t die like that, he died a cultural death. He now wonders if dieing via the plane would’ve been a better way to die, society is controlling his thoughts
