Speaking of unique and beautiful moments, none shine brighter than the reason we’re all here today – the stunning woman who’s agreed to be my partner in crime, my co-pilot through the adventure of life and let’s not forget to celebrate her superpowers of incredible care and boundless patience – qualities that come in handy when dealing with yours truly.
Meeting
I first met Kat when working at Lloyds together with her and we were placed in the same group for training unblocking credit cards. One day after training and walking home in the pouring rain and Kathryn offered to drive me home and despite previous warnings from my parents about accepting lifts from strangers I accepted. From that day she would offer me a lift home and I would accept and then we would spend literal hours in the front of her car freezing our backsides off talking.
Proposal
Cutting a five-year story very short I must fast forward to a chapter that’s etched in my heart – the proposal. I like the hopeless romantic I am, took Kat possibly one of the largest Disney fans in the world to Disneyland Paris to be able to propose to her. You would probably think that I did the obvious thing and proposed in front of Cinderella’s castle, on a ride, or with one of the characters, you would be wrong, instead of creating a fuss in public which I know she would have hated I instead got down on one knee in the most private spot I could think of… our hotel room.
Segue
Now, as we transition from the tale of how I nervously popped the question to the love of my life, I can’t help but think about the incredible journey that brought me not only a life partner but also the most fantastic set of bonus features – my new parents-in-law. You see, proposing wasn’t just about winning over one heart; it was about gaining a whole new set of family members.
