How do you Form a ‘Half Hitch’
By Crossing and passing the Running End over the Standing Part(Around Spar or Object)
How do you Form a ‘Round Turn’
By passing the Running End over and around an Object or Spar completely once
How do you Form a ‘Round Turn & Two Half Hitches’
By making a complete round turn over and around the object or spar, then making two half hitches on the Standing Part(forming a clove hitch)
How do you Form an ‘Overhand Knot’
By passing the Running End over the(object and) standing part and bringing it under and up through the Bight
How do you Form a ‘Figure of Eight Knot’
By passing the Running End over the Standing Part and bringing it behind the Tail and through the Bight
How do you Form a ‘Fishermans Knot’
By laying two lines of equal thickness parallel to each other, using one line to tie an Overhand Knot onto the second line, using the Running end of the second line to tie an Overhand Knot into the first line and pulling both lines tightly to secure the knot
How do you Form a ‘Double Sheet Bend’
By making a Bight with the thicker line, passing the thinner line behind and up through the bight then making a full round turn around the Bight, under the thinner Tail then pulled tight to secure
How do you Form a ‘Clove Hitch’
By creating two Half Hitches pulling at right angles in opposite directions
How do you Form a ‘Rolling Hitch’
Made in the same way as the Clove Hitch but with an extra round turn passing over the object between the two half hitches
How do you Form a ‘Bowline Knot’
By creating a Half Hitch in the Standing Part, passing the Running end up and Under the Half Hitch, behind and around the Standing Part then back through the Half Hitch
