A

Introduce subsidy which was an additional tax based on an up to date assessment of a persons income the tax was set up so a person would pay more the higher their income

Three of wolseys plans and why they failed - annulment

A
  • argue dispensation never should have happened
  • use leviticus argue dispensation broke gods law
  • however arguement only worked if marriage was consumated and cathrine used deuteronomy also embarrassing for pope to admit mistake
  • break the dispensation
  • sayvthe dispensation was misworded and therefor could be broken
  • however cathrine supporters found a soanish version which was correctly worded
  • persuade rome to have case heard in england so cardinal wolsey could have the final decision
  • however pope decided in summer 1529 trial has to happen in rome

  • became a priest
  • 1509 royal council by henry
  • 1512-13 organised army for war against france and Scotland ( no one wanted this job as it had huge potential for faliure but he did it successfully)
  • 1515 pop appointed wolsey cardinal
  • 1515 henry appointed him lord chancellor and cheif ministers

  • to raise money wolesy decided he needed to introduce a new tax without approval of parliament

Met with anger many refused to pay
Revolt broke out in suffilk where 10,000 men met and expressed loyalty to the king but wanted him aware of their anger
