Why does Cornwall have a lot of potential for tourism?
It has a 700km coastline, quaint villages, a thriving cultural scene and a considerable number of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This attracts 4 million visitors every August.
What challenges does Cornwall face as a result of its physical geography?
It has a remote location (the end of the SW Peninsular), it has poor transport links (no motorways), an elongated shape, small settlements and a dependance on tourism which is seasonal given the climate.
Which 4 industries in the primary sector did many people in Cornwall work in before these industries began to decline?
Fishing, farming, china clay quarries and tin mining.

Dominance of low wage jobs, poor access to health and education and a lack of inward investment.

Why is it difficult to access health services in villages?
Not everyone has a car and 30% of villages have no bus services. Villages that do have bus services often have low demand for busses so busses are infrequent.
Why is it such a problem that it is difficult to access health services in villages?
Villages often consist of mostly elderly people who require healthcare frequently so it can greatly impact their health if they can’t get an ambulance in time, for example.
How far away from Cornwall is the closest main hospital?
In Truro, which is over an hour away.
