Labor Flashcards
labor
cervical change + regular contractions
latent phase
mostly effacement (cervix <4cm)
active phase
dilation occurs more rapidly (cervix >4cm)
protraction of active phase
dilation <1.5/hr for multip
arrest of active phase
no progress for >2hrs
first stage of labor
onset to complete dilation
second stage labor
complete dilation to delivery
third stage labor
delivery infant to delivery placenta
FHR: normal, tachy, brady
normal = 110-160
adequate contractions
ev 2-3min, firm to palpation, last 40-60seconds (OR >200MVU)
Category 1 tracing
normal baseline + variability, no late/variable decels
Category 2 tracing
some concerning aspect, but not ominous (fetal tachy without decels)
Category 3 tracing
omnious, high liklihood of fetal hypoxia (absent baseline variability with recurrent late or variable decels or bradycardia; or sinusoidal HR pattern)
