16
Q

What is the purpose of the first clamp on the pedicle?

A

Isolate/exteriorize pedicle, crush tissue to remove fat, and create groove for ligature to securely sit in

17
Q

When is this first clamp on the pedicle removed?

A

as 2nd ligature (circumferential) is placed and tightened

18
Q

Where is the second clamp placed on the pedicle?

A

Above first clamp rather close

19
Q

What is the purpose of the second clamp placed on the pedicle?

A

Facilitate cutting of pedicle, keep pedicle from retracting into abdomen after cut

20
Q

Where is the third clamp on the ovarian pedicle placed?

A

placed close to ovary on either side

21
Q

What is the purpose of the third clamp on the ovarian pedicle?

A

Helps manipulate ovary and stops hemorrhage from the uterine side of the pedicle after it is cut

22
Q

When should a transfixation ligature be placed on the ovarian pedicle? Where should it be placed?

A

Large pedicles, placed at the side of the first clamp crush

23
Q

How is the uterus elevated out of the body?

A

Caudally to visualize the cervix

24
Q

How is the uterus clamped?

A

Triple clamped similar to the pedicle

25
Q

What types of ligatures are placed in the uterus?

A

Circumferential will be placed on uterine body between cervix and bottom clamp. Transfixation will be placed at crush of first clamp.

26
Q

How do you look for a dropped pedicle on the right side?

A

Grasp duodenum and let the mesentery pull everything out of the way towards midline

27
Q

How do you look for a dropped pedicle on the left side?

A

Grasp the colon and let the mesocolon pull everything out of the way towards midline

28
Q

Where are the pedicles in relation to the kidney?

A

Just caudal to the caudal pole of the kidney

29
Q

Where is uterine bleeding located?

A

Dorsal to the bladder
