Lecture 10 Flashcards
Brachium, Cubital Fossa
What is the fascial septa?
Tough fibrous CT that divides the limb segment into 2 or more compartments.
- Medial intermuscular septum (separates Anterior arm from medial side of triceps)
- Lateral intermuscular septum (separates anterior arm from lateral side of triceps)
- ** creates A/P fascial compartments***
Anterior compartment
1) muscles
2) fxn
3) Innervation
4) vascularization
1) Biceps, coracobrachialis, brachialis
2) forearm flexors, shoulder flexion, supination of forearm
3) Musculocutaneous n (C5-6)
- median n and ulnar n pass through the compartment but do not innnervate it
4) Brachial a., basilic v, and vena comitantes
Pectoralis minor, coracobrachialis, and short head of biceps all attach to what?
Coracoid process
Biceps brachii crosses what two joints?
Glenohumeral joint and elbow joint
Coracobrachialis crosses what joint and is pierced by what nerve?
Glenohumeral joint
Musculocutaneous n
Brachialis crosses what joint? It is the main ____ of the forearm.
Elbow joint
flexor
Posterior compartment
1) muscles
2) fxn
3) Innervation
4) vascularization
1) Triceps brachii (long, lateral, medial heads) and anconeous
2) Forearm extensors, extend shoulder/brachium, synergists in forearm for supination (triceps eliminates flexion of biceps)
3) Radial n (C7)
4) Deep brachial a
How many and what joint does the triceps cross?
1 - elbow joint
long head crosses both elbow and shoulder
What is the main function of the anconeous?
stabilizes radius and ulna
1) Superior lateral cutaneous nerve (CtN) of arm originates from ________
2) Medial brachial CtN originates from ______ _
3) Medial antebrachial CtN originates from _____
4) Lateral anterbrachial CtN originates from _____
5) Posterior CtN of arm originates from ____
6) Posterior CtN of forearm originates from ____.
1) Axillary n
2) Direct branch of medial cord
3) Direct branch of medial cord
4) Termination of musculocutaneous n
5) Radial n
6) Radial n
1) Ulnar nerve innervates _____ m on ____ side of arm.
2) It starts in ___ compartment and goes to ____ compartment.
3) What does it pierce?
4) Passes into forearm b/w 2 heads of what muscle?
1) Flexor m, ulnar
2) anterior, posterior
3) Medial intermuscular septum
4) Flexor carpi ulnaris m
1) Radial n innervates ____ m. of _____ compartment of arm and wrist/hand.
2) It starts in ___ compartment and goes to ____ compartment.
3) What artery accompanies the radial nerve?
4) What does it pierce?
1) extensor, posterior
2) posterior, anterior
3) Deep brachial a
4) lateral intermuscular septum
1) Musculocutaneous n innervates what compartment?
2) It pierces what muscle?
1) Anterior
2) coracobrachialis
When does the brachial artery split into the radial and ulnar arteries?
After passing under the bicipital aponeurosis
The common interosseous artery runs b/w what 2 bones?
Radius and ulna
