Use a LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) 2,000-33,000 pulses per second
Like Radar, can use return time of reflection to determine elevation

A
often relate topography to geology, such as resistant rocks – ridges, limestones –sinkholes, etc

Grid containing an average elevation for the patch of ground that each pixel represents
