What were the conditions in the trenches like
Soldiers would be outside in all weathers and were often exposed to the elements this could result in trench foot. There were also lots of rats in the trenches and they would eat all of the dead bodies that hadn’t been taken away
What would people in the trenches do to kept themselves busy
The trenches could also be quite boring so soldiers would complete chores and write letters to pass the time
What would these conditions do to your mental health
Because of all of the constant fighting it was uncomfortable and hard to get to sleep many soldiers also suffered from shell shock or PTSD
How did this affect their relationships with each other
Despite all of these things many soldiers developed close friendships and would look out for each other
