Channel #
The # YOU HAVE CHOSEN to call a certain light or group of lights. (any # – 1 or even 17)
Designer usually organizes
Circuit numbers irrelevant to channel number
Magic sheets only list channel #s
A Circuit #
The physical # associated w/ where you plug the light in.
e.g, circuits 1-32 are in the catwalk
A Dimmer #
Power is sent to circuits by the dimmers.
Usually the same as the circuit #, but in some theaters there are more circuits than dimmers. In that case, they are hard patched and not always the same
Addresses
The numbers on the light board
All dimmer #s are the same as the address #
Are patched to channels in the lighting console
Hard patch
Physically connecting circuits to dimmers
Soft patch
Done in the lighting board
Patching
Connects the address #s to the channel numbers
Usually done prior to focus
Intensity
How bright the light is
Focus
Size of the light’s beam
What are the basic channel commands?
5 @ Full Enter – Brings Channel 5 to 100%
5 @ 50 Enter – Brings Channel 5 to 50% intensity
5 @ 0 Enter – Brings Channel 5 to a HARD Value of Zero – meaning the board will CONTINUE TO keep it at ZERO and override other commands. This is called a captured channel - These are RED

Cues
Recorded looks that happen in a specified Time
The board runs a cue, like you play a song.
How do you get out of a cue?
“Go To Cue”, then “Out”
What are the primary colors in light?
Red, green, and blue
