Q

Regulation

A

Triglycerides are broken down into fatty acids then into monoglycerides by pancrease lipase .Enzymes break down fats are emulsified by salts

Q

Procss

A

Food being digested in the stomach in which they travel to the small intestine upon travelling to the small intestine foods are bile salts from gallbladder emulsify insoluble dietary fats to form Michelle

Reaching the small intestine in the form of chyme a digestive hormone known as cholecykstin stimulates the release of intestinal cells stimulate release of pancreatic lipase and stimulate gallbladder to release bile salts then travel to the brain to stimulate effect of hunger

Q

Storage

A

Obtain energy or store from fat
Triglycerides must be broken down by hydrolysis into two components fatty acids and glycerol

Process takes place in cytoplasm known as lipolysis

in which fatty acids are oxidise by B- oxidation into actey coA used in the Krebs cycle

Glycerol is released from triglycerides after lipolysis directy neters glycilysis pathway as DHAP

Q

Breakdown

A

Breakdown of fatty acids called fatty acid oxidation or beta B oxidation begins in cytoplasm , where fatty acids are converted into fatty acyl coA.

Combination with carnitine to create fatty acyl carnitine molecules

In the matrix , fatty acid- acetyle cOA

Newly formed acetyle coA enters the kreb cycle is used to produce ATP in the same way as aceycl

Q

Excess

A

Generated by glycolysis can be converted into fatty acids , triglycerides , bile salts and steroids

Process lipogenesis create lipids from acetyl coa and takes place in cytoplasm of adipocytes ( fat cells) and hepacyotes .

When you eat , more glucose or carbohyrate than your body needs , your system uses acytel COA turns into excess into fats

Q

Metabolic

A

Several metabolic sources of acetyl coA commonly derived from glycolysis .

However creation of triglycerides and lipids is the efficient way of storing the energy available on carbohydrates

Triglycerides and lipids , high energy molecules stored in adipose tissue untill needed .
