random-access memory, has many mini blocks or ‘bytes’, we can store one byte (8 binary digits or bits) in each memory address (main memory → short-term), stores Data while applications are running.

secondary memory , long term, ex: USB, CDs, & Floppy disks. Stores data & instructions between sessions.
