Locomotion Flashcards
What do the purple and orange represent and what are their functions in regards to muscles?
Purple: Upper motor neurons
Control the muscles
Orange: Lower motor neurons
Contract the muscles
What is this lesion?
White line disease
What is this lesion?
Sole Ulcer
What is this lesion?
Digital Dermatitis - multiple stages
What is this lesion?

What is this lesion?
Corkscrew claw
Describe the process of claw amputation in a cow:
Parenteral AB
NSAIDS and IVRA (regional anaesthesia)
PREP
Incise into interdigital space - 2-3cm, skin fold
Embryotomy wire - up than obliquely outwards
Curette + remove excess tissue
Melolin +pressure dressing
Redress every 48hours, 96 hours, 7d then leave open
Block on unaffected digit
Case:
10yo Greyhound cross-breed
History: Unilateral forelimb lamess - 3 weeks
Non responsive to analgesia
Non responsive to restriction to exercise
Pain on deep palpation of distal radius
Swelling at distal radius
What can you see in radiograph?
Deep palpation abnormal - RAD the distal radius
Lateral view - distal radius and ulna
SEE: lysis , loss of cortical density, new aggressive periosteal bone formation
Mass proliferation of new bone - irregular - poorly mineralised (not as white), poorly marginated
What are these two types of fracture called in the distal phalanx?
Green: Type I - Wing- non-articular
Yellow: Type II - Wing - articular
What is this type of fracture?
Type III: Saggital
What are these types of fractures?
Lilac: Type IV: extensor process
Green: Type V: comminuted
White: Type VI: solar margin
