What is a lymphoma?

A

Also cancer in the blood but originates from infection-fighting cells called lymphocytes

  • It is a solid tumour however some cells can be found in the blood

  • Hodgkin Lymphoma (Hodgkin’s disease)

- Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

  • Fever
  • Swelling of face/neck
  • Lump in neck (lymph nodes swelling)

What are the differences between Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma?

A

Hodgkin Lymphoma:

  • Less Common
  • Younger age diagnosis (median 39)
  • Lymph Nodes in upper body
  • Diagnosed early so easy to treat

Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma:

  • More common
  • Older age diagnosis 55+
  • Lymph Nodes anywhere in body
  • Diagnosed late so hard to treat
