banquet leaves and Macbeth visions a dagger pointing to Duncans room - lady Macbeth informs Macbeth that it is time to kill

Macbeth has killed Duncan and goes back to lady Macbeth - his hands are covered in blood and he brought the dagger back with him so lady Macbeth takes them back. Macbeth also hears voices telling him that he will sleep no more

macduff enters Duncans room the next morning and finds him dead - lady Macbeth acts horrified and Macbeth killed the chamberlains and said it was out of rage. Malcolm and donaldbain don’t feel safe as their father has just been killed so they flee

- floating head “beware macduff”
- bloody child “none of woman born shall harm Macbeth”
- crowned child holding a branch - he is safe until birnam woods comes to dunsinane
Lennox tells Macbeth that macduff has fled to England so he sends murderers to kill his family

macduff is questioned by Malcolm to make sure he wants the best for Scotland and the macduff family are all killed

ross urges Malcolm to come to England and ross tells macduff that his family have been killed - this makes macduff have so much grief so Malcolm tells him to turn it into revenge

a women cry is heard in the castle and Macbeth is told that his wife is dead - he talks about how life is pointless. macbeth also gets told that birnam woods is heading towards him. he declares he will die fighting

Macbeth and macduff meet on the battlefield. macduff tells Macbeth he was not born of woman as he was born by caesarian - they exit fighting

Malcolm and siward walk together in the castle and ross tells siward that his son is dead and siward asks if it was from the front or back - it was from the front as he had died in battle. macduff enters with Macbeths head in his hands and Malcolm becomes king
