What determines the place value of a digit?
The position of each digit
What is an improper fraction?
A fraction in which the numerator is equal to or greater than the denominator. Eg 14/3 or 60/60
What are decimal fractions?
Fractions with denominators that are multiples of 10 (10, 100, 1000 etc). Any decimal number can be written as a decimal fraction. Eg .27 = 27/100
In the problem 2.345 x 7.8, when rounded correctly, how many digits will the answer have?
The answer must have no more digits than the number in the problem with the FEWEST digits, therefore our answer will have 2 digits, because 7.8 has the fewest digits.
What are the two basic ways of comparing numbers?
Subtraction and Division
