Memory Items Flashcards
What are the Windshear at takeoff memory items?
BEFORE V1:
- Reject only if significant airspeed variations occur below indicated V1 and there is room to stop
AFTER V1:
- THR levers: TOGA
- Reaching V1: ROTATE
- SRS orders follow or 17.5*NU or full NU to prevent altitude loss
What are the Windshear memory items?
- Call “Windshear TOGA!”
- Set thrust levers to TOGA
- AP if engaged: KEEP ON
- SRS orders: FOLLOW; or 17.5*NU or max NU if req to prevent altitude loss
- Do not change configuration until out of shear
- Closely monitor flight path and speed
- Recover smoothly to normal climb when out of windshear
What are the “WINDSHEAR AHEAD” memory items?
BEFORE TAKEOFF: - Delay takeoff or select the most favorable runway DURING THE TAKEOFF: - Reject AIRBOURNE: - THR levers: TOGA - AP if engaged: KEEP ON - SRS orders: FOLLOW or 17.5*NU or max NU to avoid altitude loss LANDING: - Go-around: perform - AP if engaged: KEEP ON
What are the emergency descent memory items?
- Crew Oxy masks: ON
- Establish coms
- “Attn Emer Des”
- Signs: ON
- HDG: Turn and Pull
- ALT: Turn and Pull

- 2000ft above level off: retract speed brake
- Set QNH
What are the TCAS RA memory items?
- “TCAS! I HAVE CONTROL!”
- AP: OFF
- FD’s: OFF
- Pitch orders: FOLLOW (respect the stall, GPWS and W/S warnings)
- “Dragon xxx, TCAS RA”
- When “CLEAR OF CONFLICT”: resume normal navigation or go-around as required (if on final approach)
What are the Unreliable Airspeed memory items?
If the safe conduct of the flight is impacted:
- AP/FD: off
- A/THR: off
- PITCH/THRUST:
Below THR RED ALT: 15/TOGA
Above THR RED ALT and below FL100: 10/CLB
Above THR RED ALT and above FL100: 5/CLB
-FLAPS: If FULL select F3, otherwise maintain
-SPEEDBRAKE: Check retracted
-L/G: Up
When at or above MSA, level off for trouble shooting
What are the Loss of Braking memory items?
"LOSS OF BRAKING!" -REV: max -BRAKE PEDALS: release - A/SKID & N/W STRG: off - BRAKE PEDALS: press - MAX BRK PR: 1000psi If still no braking: - Parking Brake: Short successive applications
What are the EGPWS memory items?
“PULL UP, TOGA!”

If no “Pull up”, adjust flight path as required or set GPWS mode off for intentional actions
What are the Stall Recovery memory items?
- Nose down pitch control: APPLY
- Bank: WINGS LEVEL
When out of stall: - Thrust: INCREASE SMOOTHLY AS NEEDED
If OEI compensate with rudder - Speedbrakes: CHECK RETRACTED
- Flight Path: RECOVER SMOOTHLY
If in clean config and below 20,000ft: - Flap 1: SELECT
If risk of ground contact exists, smoothly establish a positive climb gradient
What are the Pilot Incapacitation memory items?
“I have control!”
- Takeover P/B: Use if required
- Establish the aircraft in a safe place
“ATTN PURSER TO COCKPIT PLEASE!”
- Get purser to secure the other pilot
- Declare an emergency to ATC
- Request assistance from any medically qualified pilot
- Ask if any company type qualified pilots are on board; otherwise
- Keep purser in cockpit to read the checklist
