What prepares the uterus lining?
High levels of progesterone.
What happens when a woman becomes pregnant?
The egg becomes fertilized by a sperm and attaches itself onto the uterine wall.
What happens if the egg does not get fertilized?
It dissolves or gets absorbed into the body.
So what’s happening when you have your period?
Progesterone and estrogen levels decrease and the thickened lining of the uterus is shed.
If estrogen and progesterone levels are low, what happens?
FSH and LH hormones are secreted from the pituitary gland.
If estrogen and progesterone levels are high, what happens?
FSH and LH secretion slows down or stops so that the ovaries don’t release another ovum.
Hormones produced in the ovaries can affect the _______.
Uterus.
