Q

Signs of ovulation

A
  1. abdominal discomfort (mittelschmerz)
  2. stretchy clear mucoid discharge (spinnbarkeit)
  3. basal body temp rise after ovulation
17
Q

What triggers shedding of endometrial lining

A

Low levels of progesterone & estrogen

18
Q

What happens to the follicle is fertilization does not occur

A

corpus luteum degenetates
triggers luteal phase

19
Q

What causes changes in vagina

A
  • cyclic changes in estrogen
  • estrogen regulates pH of vagina since estrogen stimulates growth of lactobacilli
20
Q

Why is lactobacilli found in vagina

A

A healthy human vagina is dominated by lactobacilli
-plays important role in protecting the host from urogenital infections
