dissociative disorders
disorder that involves losing one’s memory after a traumatic event
dissociative amnesia
a person forgets everything for a short selective period of time
localized amnesia
can remember some parts of it but not everything
selective amnesia
the person does not remember anything about him/herself
generalized amnesia
starts w/ a trauma and continuous to the present time
continuous amnesia
a person blocks out a memory related to a specific event or person
systematized amnesia
rare disorder that involves forgetting who you are, assuming a new identity, and travelling away from home
dissociative fugue
