Identify the three points you must consider before deciding on what course of action to take.
- Age
- Zones of safety
- Circumstances
Define a missing person
A missing person is:
Any person who is reported missing to the police
AND
Whose whereabouts are unknown
AND
There are fears for the safety, or concerns for the welfare, of that person
Describe what to do when a missing person has been located?
Enter details of the place and circumstances in which they were found.
Interview about the disappearance
If its a child, consider referring to CYFS
Enter into NIA
Remove alert from NIA
Advise informant that the person has been found
Update report
What should be in a missing person file?
File cover sheet POL 258 Missing person report Job sheets / statements File reviews Computer printouts
Identify stages to be completed after 14 days
Contact informant for an update
Establish whether there are any new or continued Fears for the persons safety..
Consult with specialist I.e cib
Ensure a full description has been entered into NIA
Forward to file OC cib for review
