What is is a file
Is a collection of data or information which has been stored under a single name
What’s a folder
Is a storage place or holder in which files or other folders are stored
What is a sub folder
A folder containing other folders
Three tips on planing a suitable folder structure
Plan what you would like your basic folder structure to look like
Think first about the main folders you would need to save your files under;then add sub folders as required
Keep on refining each level
File name consists of three parts
Name
Dot
Extension
Importance of file extensions
It indicates to the operating system what type of file it is And what program it must use to open the file

C-drive : refers to the hard disk drive (HDD)

File path
Defines location of a file or folder in a computer’s file system
Also called directory path
What does the file path show
Which storage device the file is saved
In which folder and sub folder the file is saved
Name of the file
Type of file (file extension)
How to rename a file
Right click on the file and select rename from the pop up menu. Then rename the file
How to delete a file
Right click and delete
How to move a file
Drag the file and drop it
