Mononeuropathy Flashcards
1
Q
Mononeuropathy (2)
A
- involves a single nerve and considered a focal dysfunction
- trauma or severance
2
Q
Traumatic myelinopathy (3)
A
- loss of myelin limited to the site of injury
- focal compression of a peripheral nerve
3
Q
Traumatic axonopathy (3)
A
- disrupts axons
- Wallerian degeneration occurs distal to lesion
- reflexes somatosensation, and motor functions are significantly reduced/absent
4
Q
Severance (2)
A
- when nerves are physically divided by excessive stretching/laceration
- immediate loss of sensation and/or muscle paralysis
