Q

The Law of Conservation of Linear Momentum

A

Q

What are the types of Collisions?

A
  1. Elastic : kinetic energy are conserved and do not change form.
    Eg. Objects continue moving after collision.
  2. Inelastic: kinetic energy is not conserved; it changes form and is lost as heat or sound.

Q

What are Newton’s three laws of motion?

A

Newton First Law of Motion
A body will continues in its state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by external or resultant force.
Newton’s Second Law of Motion
The rate of change of the momentum of a body is directly proportional to the applied force and takes place in the direction of the force.
Force = Mass x Acceleration F =m x a a = acceleration ,m= mass
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
If a body A exert a force on body B then body B will exert an equal and opposite force on body A
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
