Motorcycle Diaries Flashcards
2
So we understand each other
The person who wrote these notes passed away the moment his feet touched Argentine soil again. That person who reorganised and polishes them, me, no longer, at least I am not the person I once was.
3
Discovery of the ocean
The full moon silhouetted against the sea, smothering the waves with silver reflections…
The sea has always been a confidant, a friend
4
…lovesick pause
I finally felt myself lifted definitively away in the winds of adventure towards worlds i envisaged would be stranger than they were, into situations I imagined would be much more normal
5
Until the last tie broken
We still looked into the future with impatient joy
6
For the flu, bed
The photograph…was an acknowledgement of our changed circumstances and of the horizons we were seeking, free at last from ‘civilisation’
7
For the flu, bed
We discovered that the infamous noise had been the front part of the bike frame breaking
8
San Martin de Los Andes
I now know… that my destiny is to travel
9
San Martin de Los Andes
Perhaps one day…I’ll return to Argentina…if not indefinitely then at least for a pause while I shift from one understanding of the world to another
10
Circular exploration
The huge figure of a stag dashed like a quick breath across the stream… this tremor of nature cut straight to our hearts
1
So we understand each other
It is a glimpse of two lives running parallel for a time, with similar hopes and convergent dreams
