Abrupt reduction of blood flow, which results in ischemic heart muscle and then death of the tissue (infarction) due to a blocked coronary artery

Describe the signs and symptoms of MI

A
  • Sudden and severe chest pain with a crushing, constricting sensation
  • Radiation of chest pain into left arm, shoulder, back, jaw neck
  • Dyspnoea
  • Diaphoresis ( excessive sweating)
  • Syncope or pre-syncope
  • Epigastric discomfort without or with nausea and vomiting
  • Cyanosis and pallor

A
