Nervous System Flashcards
What is nervous system?
Detects changes and coordinates responses
Where is Central Nervous System?
Brain and spinal cord.
Where is peripheral nervous system?
nerve works
How do Nervous System Response.
Stimulus: changes in the surrounding → Receptor:sensory cells that detects stimulus → Processing centre: CNS → Effector: Muscle/Gland → Response.
What is Neurone?
Neurone is a nerve cell, transmit electrical impulses from one part of the body to another.
Label the diagram of a Neurone

3.Dendron
4.Axon
5.Myelin Shealth
What is Dendron?
Transmit impulses from the dendrites to the cell body
What is Axon?
Transmit electrical impulses quickly away from the cell body.
What is Myelin Shealth
Insulates axon and speeds up transmission
List me 3 types of Neurone
- Sensory Neurone
- Motor neurone
- Relay Neurone
What is Sensory Neurone?
Transmit impulses from the sensory cell to CNS. Long dendron and short axon.
What is Motor Neurone?
Transmit impulses from CNS to effector. Long axon
What is Relay Neurone.
Transfers impulses from sensory to motor, only found within the CNS.
